trick-r-treat 2011

This Halloween I got to spend the afternoon in Hans classroom helping with their little party.  Boy was it filled with lots of fun for the kids.  They made spider hats, played bingo, made cookies and just simply enjoyed their afternoon as a class.

Let the fun begin!

My sweet bag lady.. she also kind of looked a little homeless I suppose, but the shopping cart worked awesome!

pumpkin carving

The Roberts love carving pumpkins and each year we do our best to make it a family gathering event.  This year Brian and Tamar hosted it and it was a very enjoyable yet relaxing day.

Meet the Roberts Family
There are always plenty of pumpkins as you can see.

This picture actually fits us a little better.

It was fun day for everyone.  Thank you Brian and Tamar!

Weigh in Day

It's just not a gathering in the Roberts family unless there is a competition somewhere in the day.  With that said, the past fall Sally challenged us all to a pumpkin growing contest to see who could grow the biggest pumpkin.
On Sunday we all gathered and showed off what we all thought was a winning pumpkin.

These are a few of the pumpkins.

Oh yes, and we are all TRASH talk, so of course we all think we have won.

Josh and I had to get creative seeing that our pumpkins never actually grew but this little 3 pounder was just a prop to set them up for the clear winning pumpkin.

Meet our winning pumpkin!

For the past 4 months I have fed, watered, fertilized and cared for our winning pumpkin!

Of course the family all protested and said that in order for it to be in the running for winner it would have to have a burning candle put inside it.  Josh ran the other way.

Hope you all know we are going to kick all your butts next year!

Looking for an adventure

With every adventure we learn something new, why not always have a friend to explore with.

Can you survive Winston turning 8 - part 2

It is becoming an annual thing for Josh and I to have one last celebration at the end of the year.  This year we used Winston's birthday as the reason and had a ton of his friends and our friends out for a last celebration and titled it, "Can you survive Winston turning 8".

Each team started by coming up with a team name and creating a team flag.

Meet our team:
Team W - orange
Team Dragon - Green
Team Angles - Blue

Josh came up with challenges which earned rewards....

Note to self for next year, jiffy popcorn didn't work so well.

With so many pumpkins on the farm this year, Josh used them a lot for his challenges.  Such as this one, throw pumpkin guts into a hanging bucket and fill it full enough to pull it to the ground.
It was pretty fun and fun to watch.

Even the parents loved it.  That is the great thing about all of our friends, we and them are all very competitive so it makes it super fun.

Last but not least, let it BURN!

Winston used a roman candle and lit the place up.

And of course all the other kids got to take a shot at it also.  I'd say it was a pretty fun party.

Isn't it GREAT, Winston is 8 ~ part 1

Hard to believe, but yes we have an 8 year old.  This past week we had a little get together with family to help Winston celebrate turning 8 years young.

First up, 8 birthday spankings for the birthday boy!

I'm pretty sure he had no complaints from all the special gifts that he received.

Even Great Grandpa and Uncle Jacob made the occasion.

At the end of the day, he got to make his wish and eat his cake.
We love you very much son and wish you another year of joy and adventure.

A visit to Annie Apple

Wednesday Hans and his classmates got to go and visit a nearby orchard.  Annie Apple and Farmer Jeff did a GREAT job of filling the kids heads full with very interesting information.  Even I learned something.  Thank you Annie Apple and Farmer Jeff for taking time for all these amazing and charming young kids.

Come and get your pumpkins

This past spring, Hans Grandpa Lyndsy decided to plant a pumpkin patch in hopes of having his Kindergarten class be able to come and get themselves some pumpkins.  Well, that idea played out this past week, when Hans and the other 3 Grant Elemantry Kindergarten classes made their first field trip of the year out to the farm to get them some pumpkins.

See the Orange Jack-o-lantern?  That's the pumpkin guy!!  Otherwise known as Hans dad.

It was so much fun watching all those cute kids try and find just the right pumpkin and it was also fun to watch Hans be able to talk up how it was his Grandpa and Grandma's pumpkin patch.  Kids are so cute.
The only rule is you have to be able to carry your own pumpkin!
Hans managed to find just the right one he told me.

Hans and a few of this classmates

All good things have to come to an end, and so they all loaded up and back to school they went.

What a BAD start to a Sunday

Sunday was an eventful day for Josh.  What was suppose to be a great Sunday, started out NO so great.  Somehow, and I still don't fully understand how, Josh managed to put his pickup in the pond.  And when I say, "in the pond" I mean, "IN THE POND!"

I'm sure your thinking to yourself, "how does one do that?"  Well, I have NO idea but Josh knows how.

Boy was I glad his brother came to his rescue or our Sunday would have been SHOT!

OOPS!

After looking back at these pictures, I think I understand why our family pictures didn't go so well later that day.  I think we need a better start to our day to have successful family pictures.

31 years YOUNG!!!

A few Saturdays back I celebrated turning 31 years YOUNG!!  Josh and the kids took me on a road trip to the top of Saddle Mountains.  It is simply amazing how beautiful everything looks from way up on a mountain however it wasn't the clearest day but we still had a super time as a family.

 A view from the top

A birthday on top of a mountain, pretty cool!

Next was dinner at dad and mom's with the family.  It's not a completely birthday without lots of spit on a cake.

It was a great day filled with lots of smiles and good memories.  Thank you everyone.
